St. Daniel the Prophet School exists to develop the talents and the abilities of each student within the
context of Catholic, Christian living. We believe it is our mission to prepare our students to function
productively in society by developing their academic skills and by instilling the values and beliefs of our
Catholic faith and of our society. We believe that this mission is best accomplished when undertaken as
a parish community guided by the example of the life and teaching of Jesus. We believe that parents,
students, and teachers share in the process and responsibility of education.

We believe that the care of children from birth has been entrusted to parents by God. Therefore, parents
are their children's primary teachers. It is their mission to model the Christian values and work ethic that
they expect the schools to educate. In doing so, they are co-teachers with the school and co-learners
with their children.

We believe that students are unique, talented persons who need to actively acquire the skills to be
life-long learners. They need to value and respect learning in order to meet the challenge to grow and
learn. They need to become co-learners with parents and teachers.

We believe that teachers must teach through example and in cooperation with parents and students. It is
the responsibility of teachers to maintain standards of professional competency in content and
methodology. It is also the responsibility of teachers to develop curricula that reflect the educational
needs of each individual student. Teachers need to provide an environment that encourages growth,
communication, and Christian acceptance of all individuals.

The process of education is collaborative, involving school and parish communities and, when guided by
the life of Jesus, will enable our students to embrace the many challenges that life holds.
