The Bereavement Ministry offers guidance, prayers and support to family and friends of the deceased members of St. Daniel’s Parish. They assist in celebrating a respectful, joyful and prayerful Funeral Liturgy.
Bereavement Ministers are contacted through the rectory as to the deceased person’s name and family members who are planning the funeral arrangements. A Minister then contacts the family to schedule a meeting at a convenient time and place to plan the readings and music of the Liturgy. They also provide baked goods for the visitation at the funeral home. These bakery items are provided by volunteers of our parish.
The Bereavement Ministry sponsors a special Mass on All Souls Day, November 2, for all deceased parishioners who have died within the year. All family members are invited to join us for this Mass. Refreshments are served afterwards.
If any adult parishioner would like to volunteer their time and talents to work with fellow parishioners during the difficult time of the death of a loved one, call Catherine Malec at 773-586-1653. Meetings are held twice a year to review and discuss the program.
